So what am I, Celia Learmonth, bringing to this blog? What precious insight about the Theatrical industry do I have to offer and share with you?

I have to be honest right from the beginning and say that I don’t have a West End credit to my name… In fact, I don’t have a single professional credit as of yet-- I haven’t even graduated!!! How can I be credible in sharing my experience or giving advice to anyone!?!

Well, I guess you could say that I am probably a representative of the masses in this industry: I’m trained and I’m hungry for a taste of this career that I’ve been working so hard to get into. In June, I’ll be stepping out into this big bad world, and already I’m a little scared and not quite sure where I will, or even if I will, fit in. So I’m sharing that journey as accurately and honestly as I can in a hope to reach out to others who may feel the same way in the start of their professional career.

I’ll be talking about life at college using my own experiences from my training, particularly focussing on the stresses and strains of third year and how to prepare oneself for life on the other side of graduation. I’ll then go onto document my transition between full-time training and the beginnings of life as a ‘new actor on the scene’. All the way along, I will be as open, as factual, as informative as I can be. I’ll be honest when the going is good, like we all do on social media showing that ‘highlight reel’ for the world to see of our achievements, but I’ll be equally as honest and show you the ‘behind the scenes’ of life as a newly graduated performer. There will be shit days. Inevitable. There will be days where I don’t get out of bed and binge watch “Friends” on Netflix. There’ll be days where I doubt whether I’m even right for this industry anymore– we all have those- Hell, I’ve had 4 of those moments writing this post!

What I mean is, is that I will share every experience of mine, raise every worry, question or concern that goes through my brain, in the hope to help you to understand that you’re not alone in your struggles and to help us all to overcome those obstacles together. Hopefully I’ll stick with it until I can secure a job and say that it was all worth it and encourage you that you can do it too!! But for now, here’s my journey trying to get a foothold in this bubble of Theatre in London.

Stay tuned for my Bio, where you can find out more about me, my journey thus far and maybe get some ideas for what topics or questions you want me to discuss in future posts.
